I would like cat lipstick and some houndstooth skinny pants. I would also like a giant American hot-dog with the works.

curses!

I have just had the very depressing realization that I probably can't wear my Braveheart top out in public anymore.
Curse you Mel Gibson!
Shakes fist.

Hey Melbourne ladiessss..........

Chip Chop is having a massive clear out this weekend, along with the good people of Lenko and Tiny Dancer.

Their studio sale is on tomorrow from 10am-5pm and Saturday from 10am-7pm at 169 Johnston Street, Collingwood and online.

My favourites from their archives unfortunately are all sold out but there will be loads of clothes, bags, fabric, samples, etc. etc. from all three labels.

I'M SORRY I'M SO SHALLOW

I JUST WANT IT TO BE PAYDAY SO I CAN PICK UP MY BOOTS. ONCE I HAVE THESE BOOTS EVERYTHING WILL FALL INTO PLACE. THESE BOOTS WILL IMPROVE MY QUALITY OF LIFE. I WILL LOOK AFTER THE BOOTS WITH PROTECTOR SPRAY AND GET THEM RE-SOLED AND REPLACE THE HEEL CAPS AT THE SLIGHTEST SIGN OF WEAR. I WILL AVOID WEARING THEM IN THE RAIN. THIS TIME, THINGS WILL BE DIFFERENT.

ONCE I HAVE THE BOOTS I WILL START READING MODERN CLASSIC FICTION AGAIN AND WILL ATTEND MORE PLAYS AND CONCERTS. I WILL PURCHASE TICKETS TO MOVIES IN FILM FESTIVALS AND WILL START WATCHING "THE WIRE". I WILL INVITE PEOPLE OVER FOR DINNER AND WILL CLEAN THE BATHROOM MORE REGULARLY. I WILL UP MY STUDENT LOAN REPAYMENTS AND START THINKING "BIG PICTURE". I'M SORRY I'M SO SHALLOW.

frivolity

A random pile of things I would like to acquire: some boys jeans which are a bit too big for me to be worn rolled up with t shirts tucked in; this bag from a deli in NY; a suede scarf with big tassels; a sweatshirt to wear with the baggy men's jeans that isn't woolly; some more Keep shoes, because I love Keeps. I won't acquire any of these because I cancelled my credit card today.

hypocritical as heck

Gawd, I just bought these shorts on a total whim. Finances, weather appropriateness and moral highground be damned:

D'oh!

just so you know

Moving house is seriously hurting my bank balance. There will be no spending unless it is bond payments, floor to ceiling shelves, moving trucks and a bed(whimper).

As a reward, my flatmate and I have made a pact: in about a month we will do a topshop binge. We will be glorious in our fury (frenzy?) So far I want these things, all available from the toppest shop itself.

Other things I fantasise about owning include: an enormous cardigan coat, a shearling jacket like my friend's "She's Cracked" Karen Walker one, some flat beau coop boots from Good as Gold, and some pants from Ruby.

A tiny picture of the jacket I would like from KW

sale!

Arnsdorf and Tina Kalivas

Yesterday was my first day off since I got back to work and so I spent it wisely - shopping.

It's sale time ladies and here is what you need to know:

ARNSDORF rules - they make lovely, simple things in lots of pretty colours. They're closing the pop-up shop on Gertrude Street today but if you hurry you can probably convince them to cut you some sweet deals.... If you read this after today (Friday) then you'll have to shop online or look for them elsewhere, like Alice Euphemia.

...which brings me to ALICE EUPHEMIA. Alice also rules - they stock an awesome range of Australian designers, and now some Kiwis too, the delivery of Lonely lingerie by Lonely Hearts has been delayed but I have faith it will arrive, and soon! Also, I spotted a lucky girl purchasing a sweet Deadly Ponies waistcoat (vest? jerkin?) there last night so yay for you NZ. As well as my two fave nz labels, Alice stocks Romance Was Born, Friederich Gray, TV (which I have to say, is growing on me), Marnie Skillings, and heaps more. I scored the Tina Kalivas mini I've had my eye on all Summer and they're on sale NOW so go there!! ps I'm so excited about Tina Kalivas' new collection, but more on that later

Everywhere is actually on sale at the moment, but these guys are my top picks.

Oh and while I'm at it, ACNE have about 3 good things on their sale rack, which are actually almost affordable, I would recommend going in there if you are extremely tiny or quite large (so you can get the lilac dress that I fell in love with, and I can be jealous of you but happy that someone lovely has it), FYI there's nothing worth trying on there if you're just in between.

1970s / 1900s

Darling Han is coming to visit Melbourne Very Soon and I had the best idea this morning for a fun, slightly random, away from the city but still inexpensive activity today: a Picnic at Hanging Rock!
(That's us obviously)
Tea party at hanging rock! With a man who slightly resembles a grumpy Donald
Our picnic will probably involve less tea and more quencher (pictured here as 'non-descript alcohol'), and boys in jaunty pants if we're lucky
we will take ipods

Picnic at Hanging Rock1

If you didn't already know (gasp!), Picnic at Hanging rock is the name of a book written in the 60s about a group of school girls in 1900 who vanish during a Valentine's Day picnic at the site of an enormous rock formation. The rock formation featured in the story, Hanging Rock, is an actual geological formation located in Victoria, Australia (thanks Wikipedia). The book was made into a great movie in 1970 which is full of floaty lace dresses and straw boater hats...

I'm sorry, I just had to put this one in here for it's 'This Guy' potential

Side note: The clothesey stuff was totally inspired by this post - thanks Almie, and kind of progressed from Edwardian inspired to slightly more realistic attire for the Melbourne Summer/our tastes to Holy Hell I want those Chloe boots baddd, and that sweet crop top...
PS Thank you thank you han for the Fantastic phone call minutes ago (with operatic office caroling in the background - amazing!)
PPS This idea needs to become a reality, anyone in Melbourne with a car who wants to come/take us, let me know!

kindness of strangers

me: good shoes http://www.milkfromathistle.com/products/
2:48 PM Han: THOSE ARE PERFECT SHOES

shame they're just part of the lookbook styling
and not credited
moh
2:49 PM Han: yeah just noticed
me: but i'm hanging on to the possibility of them being australian/available in aus
Hannah: yes that would be awesome we could be shoe twins
2:53 PM me: I just emailed to ask

Thank you thank you to the talented and lovely Danielle of Milk from a Thistle for replying to my completely random enquiry with not only a name but a link to the online store. They will be mine!

P.S. Danielle's prints and dresses are rather sweet for Summer don't you think?

on (not) another note

I just added a lovely pair of Tristan Blair wedges to my very-small-since-moving-countries shoe collection. Despite me having NO MONEY to spend on lovely things, because ALL MY MONEY must be spent on teeth, I am rather chuffed with this rash purchase. I can't show you pictures because they are nowhere on the internet.

I am not one of those girls that wears heels every day. I would like to be, and in Auckland - for a short stint working on Queen St - I was, however since moving to Melbourne I have probably worn heels about seven times. I just feel as though I am Very Dressed Up whenever I put on anything high and have decided that this needs to change.

Anyway, here are some pictures of more shoes that Han and I can't afford. Because that's what you want to see right?
Shoes from top: Pierre Hardy (on Garance Dore), Guiseppe Zanotti and Givenchy, all taken from Jak & Jill , my favorite blog for shoe porn.....
The two above are the sandals Han and I may end up matching in from Opening Ceremony, and my big crush - lattice wedges also from Opening Ceremony...

cruel world of unattainable shoes

Shoe porn from refinery29.
Studs, buckles and clunky heels. Mmmmm.

I can't remember...are the top ones the cloggish ones from Oak that I previously mentioned? Ach!

The boots are Alexander Wang...whose ubiquity would almost be tiresome if he wasn't so damn good. Gotta love armchair critiques from a girl who couldn't possibly actually buy anything from his range, HA! How's that for meaningless?

Want shoes. Moh. TGIF x

ouch

I'm still sore after yoga on Monday and am foolishly going back for more tonight...

Do you know what else hurts?

I've spent the better part of three days trying to track down a certain Lover one piece and even though Australia is ridiculously near to New Zealand it has been a hea
rtbreaking process which has signified NOTHING. What is this life about? Why are things which should be so easy be so hard? A friend of mine lent me her Lover swimsuit last year and I remember a wave of happiness washing over me that no other swimsuit has ever evoked. Usually, I'd balk at spending hundreds of dollars on a swimwear but this little dude is something special.

To make myself feel better I bought this from Topshop:

That's right, its a navy and cream breton striped crop top with hook and eyes going up the middle. I need to stop buying things online when I cannot quite discern if they are ugly or not. The day I found out that Topshop shipped to NZ was a day terrible in its greatness. The floodgates to relatively guilt-free online purchasing have been opened. Aiee!

I feel as though Lou and I have become a little too pre-occupied with online shopping. Next post will not be about things I want to buy from the internet. Promise.
