knit picks
see what I did there?
I am obsessed with All Knitwear, ever since I saw it in a shop on Gertrude Street that was shut every time I walked past. Admittedly I only walked past at night, until about two months ago when I walked past in the middle of the day, and it was open. I went in and found that these sweaters and minis and scarves are even better in person than through the window/online. The shop is called Dagmar Rousset and is full of really great things. Please go there if you are in Melbourne. You could even get french lessons there if you wanted, which you should.
If you're in Auckland, which I think a few of you are, All Knitwear is stocked at Douglas + Bec in St Mary's Bay, a shop which I don't think existed when I lived there.
I would be so happy if all of my friends wore these all of the time, including me.

blush

Work's been topsy turvy and all over the place and I'm not really on a computer all week (it's actually quite nice). But anyway, I'm still around, and have some pretty pinks for you to prove it.
Will be back, next week, with maybe something more interesting to say. I got an exciting new magazine in the mail this week, and it's my birthday in a few days, and the weather has been lovely in Melbourne!

mustard legs

In my efforts to branch out from an all-black uniform (particularly difficult in winter) I've placed an order for tights in mustard, paprika, and army green/grey. Inspired by Alexa's Madewell collaboration, J Crew's Fall 2010 women's collection, and plenty of street style pics, I'm already imagining them with a navy trench I haven't worn since I moved here, brown oxfords which I don't own (yet), grey tweed and other autumnal delights.
The top pic is from an old Luella collection, I found it here, middle is the new J Crew Fall 2010 range from Style.com, and bottom is the beautiful Annabel of Blushing Ambition.

happy mondays
Today has so far been a lovely start to the week, despite what might actually be a slight hangover and some bad late for work dreams this morning...
I am eating the most delicious, flaky, crisp on the outside soft on the inside french pastry - an escargot from Monsieur Truffe on Smith St. It was a reward for the lateness being only a dream and a consolation for the hangover, and half of it is now embarassingly adorning the front of my dress.
I've just watched these two videos which both made me very happy. The one above I found on We Love You So and below is via The Debonaire, who's also posted this trailer which looks funny!

the bells of st clements
This Summer I have developed an affinity for a particular shade of orange. I invented a cardigan in my head which I'm yet to find in material form (probably a good thing as savings have Officially Started), it's small but not 'cropped' or '3/4 sleeved', it's soft and thin and a little bit flimsy, and it's a beautiful not-quite-pinkish orange that could never be called coral.Apparently in the fashion world this colour is currently known as Persimmon. That works for me*. So far the only persimmon thing I actually own (actually they're a little too pink) is a pair of socks from Gorman which I've taken to wearing with clogs, something that was described as 'brave' by a good friend.
Anyway it's certainly, very much still Summer around here (never leave me) and I'm feeling like wearing lemons and tangerines.
*We have a persimmon tree in the backyard, it yeilds a lot more fruit than I know how to deal with so if anyone has some delicious suggestions please let me know!

gay rosé

Pink things are pretty. When I was little I cut all my hair off and went through a phase of wearing Exclusively pink and/or lacy things, to avoid being mistaken for a boy. A little while ago I was taken to a pretty rooftop bar called Madame Brussels, their walls are pale pink and the furniture is white wrought iron. Their menus are bound in candy colored faux reptile and contain such drinks as 'fancy gay rosé'. Bursting Capsules.
Rosé also tastes nice, particularly if you like red wine like me but it's a hot sunny afternoon...
