do it for yourself
I'm not much of a jewellery wearer, but I do like to look at it... I particularly like looking at these colourful chunky tribal numbers from Proenza Schouler's Resort 2011 collection. I love big statement necklaces and plan to collect many for when I am a much older lady, with a grey bob.
Anyway the reason I'm posting them is because I just discovered this DIY on Honestly...WTF and I think it's great. I also think their other DIYs are great and am feeling rather inferior in my lack of craftiness/motivation/materials. I did pick up last years knitting last night though, it's a start.

it's not sunny here at all
A scratch has appeared in the middle of the left lens of my sunglasses. The (black) arms are turning a bit white, I think from wearing them in the pool too much. I left them at a friend's house and then at a bar after he returned them to me. I got them back, but I am thinking this may be the universe telling me it's time for a new pair...
I am sorely tempted by Retro Super Future's Super Lucia, particularly after seeing them in this shoot (via Because I'm Addicted), they're the kind of thing one needs to try on before purchasing though and I don't know where to find them in Melbourne.
There was a pair of PAM sunglasses at FAT about 15 months ago that I loved. I didn't need new sunglasses then and now I can't find them.
I'll most likely end up with another pair of wayfarers. Probably tortoise shell all over again. Change is hard, stick with what you know.

i'm going to win this thing
I told you a while ago about The Vamoose. So now she's having a bit of a giveaway and I'm crossing my fingers because a) I never win anything and b) those necklaces are lovely!
It was pretty much impossible for me to choose just one (these three are maybe my best) but I went for the bug chunk of turquoise, just to be different... What would you choose if you could?
Have a look right here for details of the competition. I will forgive you if you win.

bedazzled

Han doesn't get hung up on jewelry but I do. I hope that any (imaginary) future fiance I might have comes across Satomi Kawakita before attempting to make me an honest woman...

hello lovely

I'm quite pleased that The Vamoose now has an online shop. Kathryn Blackmore's blog has been a favourite in my reader for a while, partly due to the infrequent posting - I like subscribing to blogs I can actually keep up with - but mostly due to her beautifully currated collections of images, a lot of which are inspiration for her jewellery collections.
I love the simply set crystals and semi precious stones (the turquoise and coral are such beautiful colours). Some of her pieces are already sold out so if you're the type to purchase lovely things online do it now. My bank account is suffering a little at the moment but I have got my eye on some stabilised turquoise or white howlite for future reference...

chop chop
Hey Melbourne ladiessss..........Chip Chop is having a massive clear out this weekend, along with the good people of Lenko and Tiny Dancer.
Their studio sale is on tomorrow from 10am-5pm and Saturday from 10am-7pm at 169 Johnston Street, Collingwood and online.
My favourites from their archives unfortunately are all sold out but there will be loads of clothes, bags, fabric, samples, etc. etc. from all three labels.

she's a druzy

I am quite enamoured with the jewelry of Kathryn Bently, particularly the snake rings and rough set stones.
P.S. I found her through The Moldy Doily

neo-geometry

I love Aztec prints. I bought a pretty dress by P.A.M which is part of the SS09 Secret Messages collection, they describe it as "Neo-geometrics". I can't find pictures on the internet but above is a t shirt fro the collection and an intense campaign image. Oh and a 'real' aztec print.
Mimco have a couple of pretty bags and necklaces in this vein also. I am head over heels in love with this little black number;

And here is a ridiculous poncho blanket thing for your dog, because we LOVE ridiculous outfits for your dog.

loveage
This isn't a travel blog, but I suspect a lot of what you read here will be about journeys. I am terribly obsessed with travel, despite not actually partaking in so much of it. I love going places, I get giddy at the thought of an ascending aeroplane and am oft disappointed upon landing. I can sleep in cars, buses and on trains, I don't get seasick, I even like lining up for customs. But I hate packing. The thought of it makes me a little anxious even now, as if there's something maybe I'm forgetting to write, and I won't realise until it's already posted and it's TOO LATE.Unfortunately packing (and unpacking, and re-packing) is a big part of the kind of extended, adventurous travel I plan on eventually doing, so I am going to attempt to overcome my anxiety by focussing on pleasant details, such as luggage. How lovely it would be to one day – practicality and weight restrictions aside – pack up all your worldly possessions in a set of antique suitcases (like those above, or the beautiful Louis Vuitton rangein Wes Anderson's The Darjeeling Limited) and take off for an adventure on the other side of the world.
This is not happening in my forseeable future, so in the meantime vintage trunks remain only an interior decorating option. And while I have got a holiday planned, it is only for 5 days and I intend to pack very little besides bathing suits and books. These duffle bags from The Luggage Professionals (below) and A.P.C (further below, sigh) would be ideal though price tags mean I will probably be carrying my swimsuits in a thrifty, if not quite as timeless, American Apparel bag .

Oh, who am I kidding
I am a sucker for AA any day.
